Our History

Since graduating from Purdue University in 1981 Bill has owned and/or worked in professional offices in Houston, St. Louis, Louisville, Lexington, and 30 cities in China. William E. Esarey is a winner of thirteen American Society of Landscape Architecture awards. Bill’s project experiences since graduating from Purdue University in 1981 include 52 Mixed Use projects in 30 cities in China, over a dozen University Campuses, housing developments, corporate campuses, Research Park parks, DOD projects in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and master planning for the Space Shuttle launch complex at Vandenberg AFB, California, and Equine planning and design for some of the wealthiest and fastest clients in the world.
Our Process / Philosophy
Listen. Listen to the client for their goals and desires. Listen to the site. What does the site offer: views, vegetation, hydrology, soils, existing features, and how can they be celebrated. If the client is a community we have a proven community input process that includes education, brainstorming, goal setting, and prioritization. Once we have all of the pieces we craft the goals into the fabric of the site to provide our clients the opportunity to be involved in the design process. We do not believe there is just one idea or option. Our goal is to realize the client’s dreams. The project belongs to the client and we are just a visitor.
